Unique Patented Technology

Voice Clarifying Circuitry:

TV Ears products contain our proprietary Voice Clarifying Circuitry that automatically adjusts the audio curve to increase the clarity of television dialog while decreasing the volume of background sounds such as music and sound effects. The words seem to jump out of the audio track, making even whispers and accents understandable.

Speed of Light Infrared Technology (SoLIT):

TV Ears transmitters use Speed of Light Infrared Technology to send the television’s audio to the headset and unlike slower Bluetooth or (RF) Radio Frequency, SoLIT doesn’t need to be paired or adjusted, is completely safe with pacemakers and will not interfere with your telephone.

Twice the Power

TV Ears are classified as ‘Assistive Listening Devices’ for hearing-impaired individuals. This special designation permits TV Ears to have twice the maximum volume.

TV Ears Digital Wireless Headset System Review

They are great if you have a hearing problem or simply want to enjoy TV while someone else wants a quiet environment for sleep or reading or whatever. The reception is better than any previous models. I must say, I am not crazy about the new ear piece but it can be rotated for more comfort and the system comes with a softer alternative. The arms on the headset can be adjusted quite a bit (instructions included) to achieve optimal comfort.

Sound quality is OK, but not something an audiophile would admire. If music is your thing, you might want to go elsewhere. When our old Ears started to get shabby (after about 7 years of use) we purchased the new 5.0 system with the dual charging indicators and the dual row of infrared transmitters. Sound quality does not seem any different, but the signal strength has improved and is less bothered by line of sight obstructions. The new units also click into place for charging; the older ones look the same, but they just sit lightly atop the charging contacts and often lost contact.

CONS
  • The rigid plastic part that goes in your ear covered bya flimsy sponge. If not positioned right, they hurt.
  • If the base of the unit is not directly facing the base that is attached to the tv, ak you will get is static. Of you move your arms and blockthe base, static. They are quite finicky.
